Art
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
~ Pablo Picasso
The art program at Northwood is geared towards bringing our students lessons that are relevant to our classroom curriculum. We want to encourage creativity and that every student is an artist. Our art mantra is "I am positive, I am creative, I am an artist".
The Parent Faculty Club has put an emphasis on the art program, for it is something that we can control. Our new art teacher Mrs. Savage, enjoys creating projects that are crafted for each classroom.
The goal of the program is to teach every child how to express themselves through art, using their imagination, acquiring new art vocabulary, while having fun in the process.
Lessons vary using the elements of art and the principles of design. These topics specifically include, but are not limited to, line, color, shape, form, texture, pattern, space, drawing ,self-expression, culture and history, artists and aesthetics, and media exploration.
